Encouraging the leaders of tomorrow

Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, the governor of Jigawa State, has stated that his administration has encouraged and pushed youths to assume leadership roles.

After being honored by Hadejia Ina Mafita, a non-political community-based group in Hadejia, Badaru declared this in response to queries from reporters.

The governor added that since taking office, his administration has enlisted the help of young people in governing the state.

"We've put kids in a variety of roles; the bulk of our state assembly members, local government chairmen, and special assistants are all young people."

"We did that to urge them to be upright and diligent in their work so they can succeed us."

The governor further revealed that he has never nominated anyone to succeed him in 2023.

"It is up to the people of the state to choose my successor." My wish is for the next governor to be a fair-minded, good listener, and, above all, someone who will continue the good work we have begun.

"My prayer is that we find someone who is humble, who has the fear of Allah in him, who will pick up where we left off and who would listen to the people as we do," Badaru said.
