A stage 2 breast cancer story

A stage 2 breast cancer story

-----

I am Not sure where to start, but I felt that God was calling me to share my story, so I wanted to be obedient and share in case anyone else might be facing something similar or going through struggles of another kind.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer on February 19th, 2026. Invasive ductal carcinoma with extensive lymphovascular invasion, grade 3 stage 2A. (In other words, tumor that started in a milk duct in my right breast, 2.6 cm in size, and that tumor had a direct blood vessel pathway to my lymph nodes)

With so much support from friends and family, I have been able to “Set my mind on things above, not on earthly things” Colossians 3:2 Because I know that MY GOD is bigger than any diagnosis and that “In all things God works for the good of those who love him” Romans 8:28. I am not sure how God will use this for good, but I cannot wait to find out, because I believe in His word, His promises, and His faithfulness.

Early ultrasound showed nothing in my lymph nodes, but we did not know for sure until my surgery.

Met with oncologist at Parkview on February 25th, 2026. The plan at that time was double mastectomy and 4 rounds of lower dose of chemo with 1 year of HER2 targeted treatment. (However, that plan changed after my surgery)

My double mastectomy took place on April 17th, 2026. This was to be an outpatient surgery that lasted 4-6 hours. Instead, when I awoke in recovery I had vertigo and vomiting for 12 hours, which meant I needed to be hospitalized instead of released. Not easy to come back from this rough surgery, so my recovery seemed slow for the first few weeks. Very stressful for my body.

After surgery, the lymph node biopsy showed that one of my lymph nodes was in fact positive for cancer, which changed my treatment again to: 6 rounds of THCP chemo, 15 rounds of radiation, and 1 year HER2 targeted treatment.

For anyone that has not been given a similar diagnosis, let me tell you, emotions are all over the place. Anger, fear, resentment, and anxiety abound. I have to daily, sometimes hourly, make the decision to “take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ” 2 Corinthians 10:5.

Please understand that I do NOT believe that this diagnosis is from The Lord! I will not accept that, instead, I listen to God’s Word “The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life” John 10:10. As believers in Jesus, we are not promised a life with no troubles or struggles, but we are promised God’s grace, mercy, and healing through it all. “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” John 16:33.

I will be starting my rounds of chemo on Monday June 1st, 2026. Each round will have 3 weeks in between, so at this time, my last treatment will be September 14th, 2026. Then, will start radiation shortly after.

I hold on to these truths: “He was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed” Isaiah 53:5  I will be made whole, I will be healed! His Word tell me this, so I will keep my eyes fixed on these promises and on what really matters; eternity.

Please feel free to share with anyone that you know might be struggling 🥰
