APC Delegates demand Adamu's resignation

Some delegates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have  asked the National Chairman of the  party, Abdullahi Adamu, to  resign his  position  as the chairman of the  party.

Recall that Adamu had on Monday  announced the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan,  as the consensus candidate of the  party  ahead of the presidential  primary election.

However, Adamu's  position did  not  go down  well with  some  members of the National Working Committee (NWC), as they believed that the  decision  was his '' personal opinion.''

In their reaction,  some delegates  said Adamu's antics  showed  that he is  working for a small cabal  in the presidency whose  intent is  to drag the  name of President Muhammadu Buhari  in the mud.

They  further  said the chairman's  action  means that he has now constituted a  clear and  present  danger to  the continued  existence of the APC as a  corporate entity, and is  capable of disrupting Nigeria's democratic processes.

''ln  light of this, Adamu has  shown that he  is not  fit to preside over APC.

''l  no longer  have confidence in Adamu to  continue as APC Chairman,'' a delegate from Niger  said.

However, Adamu has  come out to  defend his  position  as the  outcome of his  consultation with President Buhari.

On his part, Buhari has denied ever anointing any candidate  as the consensus candidate of the  party for the presidential  ticket  ahead of the  primary election,  instead he  advised  all the contestants to  go out and  test their  popularity  in the  primary election.

Do  you agree that Abdullahi Adamu  should  resign his  position  as the  party chairman?
