On April 27, 2023, Li Yuming and Cheng Jialu arrived at the Wula Rai International Airport and stayed at the Hyatt Hotel in Denpasar Shanur District. The two booked a six-day and five-night trip, and the frequent traveller couple is no stranger to Indonesia, having just arrived once in March of the same year.
On April 28, the two reported to local police that Li Yuming's passport was lost. On April 29th, after 6 o'clock in the evening, Li Yuming left the Hyatt Hotel. Cheng Jialu then checked out and moved into Manson SPA resort. Li Yiming returned to Hyatt for the night. The next day, Li Yiming went to the Manson Hotel to look for Cheng Jiaqi. Staff found his left hand was injured and bleeding, wrapped in a towel. Li Yuming said he was injured in a fight with his girlfriend.
On April 30, after 8 pm, Cheng Jiaqi checked out from Manson and went to the Intercontinental Hotel in Kimbalan alone, checked in room 4223 on the second floor with Li Yiming's passport, and informed her boyfriend of his location using his mobile phone.
At 12:17 am on May 1st, Li Yiming appeared in the lobby of the Intercontinental Hotel Kimbalan and sat on the sofa for a while. Two minutes later, Cheng Jia went downstairs, and the two spoke for a few minutes and went upstairs together. At 00:50, Li Yuming walked out of the room, looked opposite room 4222 for a few seconds before returning. At 1:15 pm, Li Yiming ordered five beers through room service. The staff found Li Yiming, followed the blood trail all the way to room 4223 and saw Cheng Jialu dead in the bathtub.
On 17 May, Denpasar police held a press conference to announce the results of the investigation. Police determined that Li Yao Ming killed Cheng Jialu after committing suicide. There was no third person at the scene. The case was closed. Police said they had questioned 31 people and reached the conclusion based on evidence from the scene and a forensic autopsy report.

Police determined that Li Yao Ming killed himself, mainly based on the following points:
First, Li Yao Ming told Manson hotel staff that the injuries on his hand were caused by a fight with his girlfriend. Third, room 4223 has not been captured by the monitor since the two people checked in, except for the beers who delivered the beer. Police believe that Cheng Jialu died in the secret room and that the only chance to kill someone is Li Yiming.
Fourth, although it's not easy to cut the back with beer bottle pieces, it's not impossible. Forensics added that suicides usually don't succeed at once, often hesitating repeatedly, leaving scars on the face of multiple attempts. He used the money to buy software from foreign hackers. He opened multiple QQ accounts through the software to inject Q Coins, earning more than 100 thousand yuan. Police arrested the hacker and Li Yao Ming, but no criminal action was taken against him because he was only 14 at the time. Li Yao Ming "greatly inspired" asked a hacker on the forum to help him write Q coin theft software. In August 2015, his mother worried that he would not learn well, transferred him to a middle school in Guilin to attend a senior year. At the end of the same year he asked Porsche models at the auto forum, saying he wanted to buy a car. He interrupted his studies to go to Nanchang, Jiangxi, and bought a Porsche at the end of 2016.
Stealing Q coins can't satisfy him, he decided to make his own platform, go abroad to Cambodia to register various companies. In 2017, he registered a large number of accounts and made money by diverting traffic online. Li Yiming met someone who also relies on the QQ number on the car forum. He met in Lushan in 2020, and the other party introduced Cheng Jiaqi to him. The two dating in 2021 and bought the Gemini stars named after them in May.
It is unknown when Li Yao Ming came into contact with cryptocurrencies, but by 2019, he has made wealth freedom by helping people launder money. After the two arrived in Bali and before they were killed, they changed three hotels. During the period, they lied about the loss of their passport, Cheng Jiaqi checked in first and then notified Li Yuming of the new location, all of which showed that they were deliberately hiding their whereabouts.
Questioning the Indonesian police's conclusion that the two may have been killed by someone else is the following.
First of all, the biggest flaw in the "room killer" is that while the monitor showed that no one else entered room 4223 from the indoor hallway in the early morning of May 1st except two and the beer-delivering waiter, the balcony side of the room was facing a private beach, and there was no monitor on that side. That beach is the private property of the hotel, ordinary outsiders enter and out, and the management is not strict. Calling emergency calls makes far more sense than looking for a wheelchair. After the incident, the hotel quickly and thoroughly cleaned room 4223 and replaced the carpets in the second floor hallway.
This is a suspicious and conflicting case, and the truth will probably never be known.
