What Federal Government Said
The Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, announced at a press briefing in Abuja that the government has directed WAEC, NECO and NABTEB to fully migrate to CBT by 2027.
According to him, the reason is to curb examination malpractice, stop leakage of question papers, and make Nigerian certificates more credible and accepted internationally.
He said, "We have to move with technology. The world has moved beyond paper exams. JAMB is already doing CBT successfully for over 2 million candidates. If JAMB can do it, WAEC and NECO with less than 2 million candidates can also do it."
The Minister added that the government will provide over 10,000 new CBT centres across the 36 states and provide solar power and backup internet to make it work even in rural areas.
WAEC Also Confirms - Chairman Speaks

She said WAEC has already started training teachers and school owners on how to use CBT software. She also said WAEC has developed a special app that allows students to type essay answers, draw diagrams with digital pen, and even solve Mathematics on the system.
