Fight breast cancer if you still alive

Good morning everyone, wishing everyone having treatment today the very best of luck and wishing the rest of us a good happy day.

I took a few weeks off of social media as been on a downward spiral, after my oncology appointment I had to have an emergency dental appointment due to one of the drugs of my new chemo regime would cause major problems for me and when I got my dental appointment it turned out my cancer and previous chemo had destroyed the bones in my jaw and they had to remove all my teeth to prevent major complications and not have to stop chemo once started it, to ensure there was no delay to chemo had to have them all removed in one sitting so was in agonising pain for a good few days after that, then I got a call from the hospital telling my they couldn’t install a picc line or port just yet as had run out of their allocation so mentally another setback then the anxiety of not knowing how the new chemo would affect me kicked in and mentally it was a massive downward spiral.

I started my new chemo and immunotherapy treatment yesterday, a nice 8 hours in the hospital, although treatment was delayed for nearly 2 hours due to my blood pressure being sky high, to start the immunotherapy it has to be under a certain pressure as it can cause high blood pressure and mine was well over but eventually after an hour of scrolling through my photos of kids and wife it came down enough to start treatment.

One of the drugs causes stomach cramps which they put an injection in my stomach to ease the feelings and that was a bit of a shocking sensation, all of a sudden I was sat there and had the pressure sensation that I needed to empty my bowels and needed to do it right away and it was a bit mind boggling as that is impossible for me as having a stoma it’s been a long time since having that feeling but the feeling passed within 5 mins.

The Folinic acid was a 2 hour infusion and felt like my body temperature increased by a few hundred degrees.

They couldn’t give me the pump to take home for the 46 hour home part of the chemo treatment due to having no lines or port so obviously treatment one wasn’t fully completed but have made a start.

Next chemo is 23rd June and the same morning they are fitting me with a picc port but they said it maybe too painful to use on the same day so if that’s the case it will be the whole first month of treatment only being partly completed. I have an appointment with my oncologist before my next chemo so am going to enquire as to whether it is still just going to be 3 months of treatment if the first month wasn’t complete cycles as that would only give 2 months of full treatment before my scan to see if it is working or not as my entire life depends on this working and would feel more confident if it was 3 months of the full treatment rather than just 2.

After starting chemo yesterday it’s like a huge weight has been lifted and mixed with the steroids am feeling more upbeat than I have in weeks so am hoping it helps me forget about what’s happened and move onwards and upwards

Wishing us all the very best for today
