In a society that experiences strife on one end and hope on another, optimism is best witnessed through Melvin's narrative. Melvin, a son of a poor family, embarked on a voyage that would eventually take him from classes at the University of Nigeria Nsukka to the edge of a personal crisis and a career crisis.
Academics was the end of Melvin’s pressure on himself. This was due to the fact that he was determined to use his voice to transform society and so he attended the University of Nigeria Nsukka for mass communication for four years. Right after qualifying for a degree, he pursued the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC), which is a compulsory service all Nigerian students are supposed to honor for a year. Melvin was sent to Aba in Abia State for this assignment with a desire to be of positive service to the society.
However, his future prospects changed quite unexpectedly when a stake of defilement was leveled against him during the middle of his service. It was also the reason why Melvin was arrested at the Area Command on St. Michael Road, Aba due to very charged allegations. He had to face the torment of false accusations for five frustrating days without knowing if he would ever be free of them. No matter how harsh the stipulations were against them, Melvin’s relatives remained reliable to him, providing assistance and even disputing the accusations of guilt on him.

These days Melvin is actively propagating through his writings, and offering hope at the same time. His attempts, which are also like self-portraits, attacking social vices help in creating challengers to purchase his level as well as his dream of creating a better world. Starting as a timid boy among books and later growing as an active champion of social causes is a testament that the world has the capacity to remain resolute in one's quest to defend the abused.
