Better to Get all your treatment on time
-----
I am one year out from a stage 3 metastatic breast cancer diagnosis. It was in my lymph nodes and chest, and it was growing aggressively. I didn’t have time to try naturopathic remedies or research much. I had to make a decision, and it had to be the right one.
I did my research and found MD Anderson is the best rated cancer hospital in the world. With my 7 year old in tow, I drove to Texas and formulated a plan. They offered a chemo trial that had already produced results in stage 4 patients with my diagnosis, and had just recently been expanded to include stage 3 patients. My friend and I studied the study lol, and the results were promising… 50% survival rate beyond 5 years. 2 people dropped out so their results weren’t documented which makes those numbers make a lot of sense… so I did the trial. 6 months, 3-5 hour treatments every 3 weeks. The treatments were a cakewalk, it was the weeks in between that had me questioning my decision. But you can’t stop halfway… and there was a visit I couldn’t get both meds because of my liver counts… so it was important to get through, and I did. I was supposed to start standard of care chemo and radiation when I got home, but God had other plans.
I had kidney stones that required surgical intervention, so from September 16 to December 1st, I had 4 surgeries, 2 hospital stays and I was feeling it all. But because of all the unplanned, the plans for t-cell blockers, standard of care chemo and radiation didn’t get done. My latest scan a few months ago shows inflammation in my chest. Could be cancer, could could be in my blood…
In all the chaos, all the confusion, all the uncertainty, there was one thing I knew for certain… God was with me. When you really, truly lean into God and have faith that He wants what’s best for you, there is nothing to be afraid of ❤️✝️🙌🏼
