Gift Card Explanation

A gift card is a type of prepaid card that can be used to purchase goods or services from a particular store or retailer. Gift cards are typically given as gifts to friends, family members, or colleagues as a way of showing appreciation, celebration or to commemorate special occasions such as birthdays, weddings, or holidays.

Gift cards can be physical cards with a magnetic stripe, barcode, or chip that is scanned at the point of sale to deduct the value of the purchase, or they can be digital cards that are sent via email or mobile app. The card usually has a set amount of money that can be used to make purchases within the specific store or retailer that issued the card, and the balance can be tracked by the recipient through the card's unique code or number.

Gift cards can be a convenient and practical gift option, allowing the recipient to choose their own preferred items or experiences from the store or retailer.
