How I married a ghost

As a recent graduate, I reveled in my youth and the promise of a bright future. However, as time passed, I found myself approached by various men, none of whom seemed suitable for a serious relationship. My longtime friend Linda expressed concern, warning me that my reluctance to settle down could have consequences in the future. Despite her admonitions, I remained steadfast in my belief that the right partner would come along in due time.

As years went by, Linda married, followed by my peers, leaving me feeling increasingly isolated in our village. Concerns from my parents only added to the pressure, as they worried about my future and marital prospects. One evening, my mother broached the topic directly, expressing her concern and urging me to consider marriage sooner rather than later. Her words struck a nerve, igniting anger and frustration within me.

The pressure to marry continued to mount, both from my family and the community, leading me to make the difficult decision to leave the village and seek opportunities in the city. My first priority was to secure employment, leveraging my commerce background from university. Through connections with friends, I managed to secure an interview at a bank, marking the beginning of my journey toward independence and self-reliance.

With determination and anticipation, I prepared diligently for the interview, ensuring all necessary documents were in order. The following morning, I arrived early, ready to seize the opportunity for a fresh start in the city. Despite the nerves, I remained focused on presenting myself as a capable and qualified candidate.

As I waited for my turn, I couldn't help but reflect on the journey that had led me to this moment. Despite the doubts and pressures from others, I remained resolute in my belief that the right path would reveal itself in time. And as I was called in for my interview, I faced the future with a renewed sense of determination and optimism.
