Kuje prison invasion: INTERPOL obtains data from escaping inmates, border security is increased

The terrorists and the other criminals were among those who escaped when a terrorist group, the West African province's Islamic State, bombed the Kuje Correctional Center on Tuesday night.

At press time, it was revealed that most of the refugees' details had already been uploaded.

Nigerian Correctional Service spokesman Umar Abubakar, who confirmed this to The PUNCH on Thursday, revealed that the inmates' names, pictures and other details were shared with other security agencies.

When asked if the NCoS had sent the terrorists' data to Interpol, Abubakar said, “They are working on it; The ones they upload are not too clear to my liking and management's liking. Hopefully they should be through tonight.

“Yes, we have access to the (Interpol) database. We photograph every inmate or suspect brought into our facility and have the details on them before they go into our database.

"They are trying to upload it and work on it so that we can have the details of the crimes committed and the next of kin and take appropriate action."
