According to BBC News, Sania Khan got married in June 2021. It was a marriage that was built on lies and manipulations.
When she left the bad marriage, Sania Khan said some members of her South Asian Muslim community made her feel like she had "failed in life". Through TikTok, she found support and comfort in strangers - until her ex returned and murdered her.
Police officers found Khan's body near the front door of the Chicago condominium she had once shared with her estranged husband, Raheel Ahmad. She had a gunshot wound to the back of her head and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Upon arrival of the police, Ahmad had turned the gun on himself, taking his own life.
Khan's friends claim Ahmad had long-standing mental health issues. The couple had been mostly in a long distance relationship before marrying, which her friends say likely obscured the extent of their incompatibility.
If Ahmad had got help with his mental health issues things might have been different ? But in so many communities, and especially with men, the stigma prevents people from getting the help they so badly need.
It’s such a shame that a life is taken away in this manner. Having said that I do not believe that it is right to make a divorce so public! A relationship of whatever type, be it a marriage or not mustn’t be shared publicly like that. It involves two people and not everyone accepts to be exposed regardless whether the information shared is true or not.
She better stay realistic, keeping things private but she chose to express everything via social media. Sadly she is addicted to social media. She is not aware of its impact on everyone concerned. People hardly realize how much further social media jeopardized their failed private life including their secrets. Anthropologically speaking, they should know how to use social media properly.
