Mom

Hello ladies, it is currently 12:36 a.m. here in Alabama, and I honestly don’t even know how to start this post.

I never thought I would be writing something like this about someone in my family. My mom found a lump in her right breast back in January, and now in July they have found a mass that is about 6 cm. Her BI-RADS rating came back as a 5, and today we had a consultation with the doctor. He will be scheduling her biopsy for early next week.

My mom is 52 years old, and she is my only parent. She is the person who has always been there for me, and I am so scared. I’m a mom of three kids, but in this moment I feel like a little girl who is terrified that her mommy might not be okay.

Today, when the doctor said they believe it could be cancer, I felt like my whole world stopped. My body tensed up, and it felt like I couldn’t even hear the rest of what he was saying. But I had to stay strong for my mom. I had to be there for her, even though inside I was falling apart.

I am her only daughter, besides my brother, and I’m asking for prayers, support, and any advice from anyone who has walked through something similar. I know we still have to wait for the biopsy results, but these days ahead feel so scary and uncertain.

Please keep my mom in your thoughts and prayers. ❤️
