The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has issued a final deadline to the Federal Government over the rising cost of living in the country.
The labour union gave FG till October 27, 2026 to act on its demands or face a nationwide strike.
This is coming as Nigerians continue to struggle with high fuel price and high cost of food items.
NLC Demands From FG
According to reports, the NLC is demanding:
1. Reduction of petrol price from N1,429 per litre
2. Full implementation of N70,000 minimum wage for all workers
3. CNG buses to reduce transport cost
4. Action on insecurity and hunger
NLC President said workers can no longer survive with the current economic hardship. He said if government fails to meet the demands by October 27, workers will down tools and shutdown the country.
Will There Be Nationwide Strike?
If FG does not meet NLC demands by Monday, October 27, there may be total shutdown of offices, schools, banks and markets. The last nationwide strike affected all sectors including fuel stations.
