It was the eternal wisdom of our elders when they told us that, out of dark pot can come out a sparkling white pap. Pap is a delicacy that comes out of corn (maize) after it has undergone some processing. It is called different names across Nigeria. However, the issue behind the wisdom is a guide against lumping people together unnecessarily, thereby saving us from unintended stereotype and unfair categorization. It is also a kind of caution against groupthink, as individuals on their own, can spring a surprise, by daring to be different from the lots of the pack.
Who would have thought, that out of the clan of the spreaders (admittedly, my coinage), Will someone emerge with flashes of inspiration (apologize to Dr. Ogidan, with a book with the same title) but that is precisely what one governor, by the name seyi makinde of Oyo state is doing. He has demonstrated an uncanny penchant for all-inclusive governance, devoid of the usual parochial leaning towards the elites against the people. Yes, it may seem too early to rejoice (praises deliberately avoided) because the journey ahead is still pretty long. But as flashes of inspiration, it Will be a disservice also to pretend we see nothing, it would not have an issue worthy of comments, as it should have been the rules that should not warrant any commendation at all. However, while it has become an exception a mention will not hurt anyone I want to submit humbly.
