This is tremendous — thank you for writing this all down. I have had a very different experience on the same neoadjuvant regimen — I just completed Round #4 yesterday and am definitely one of those typical folks where symptoms have been getting worse over time. I had reactions to docetaxol the first two times but each time they pushed the poison after mega-Benadryl and at slower rates, and now I’m getting extra Benadryl and very slow starts each time and it has been okay. I can relate to you just wanting to get everything in there to kill the cancer. My surgery will be sometime in April, still to be determined, and with you on the no idea what radiation will look like. Trying right now to just take it as it comes.
The plastic surgeon I had initially consulted with said she doesn’t use drains, but a vacuum pump. Now I’m not sure how much plastics will be involved: I have cancer in both breasts, and the original plan was get the cancer out, plus a reduction/lift. The chemo has melted my HER2+ tumour (3.8cm) by 60% (just learned this last week, still VERY happy this helltime is working!), the one in my other breast was smaller (1.1 cm) and HER2- has also melted a bit. When the HER2+ test came back, plan was changed to chemo first. I was diagnosed in mid-October after my first screening mammogram: no signs or symptoms or family history at all. Have now had several breast specialists not able to feel any lumps. Huge surprise.
I’m cheering for you, u/okreddituwin and would love updates.
