I am so sorry you are going through this. Getting told you have stage 4 breast cancer is a huge shock, and I think most of us would feel terrified hearing that. Try not to let your mind jump too far ahead though. The thought of lifelong treatment sounds overwhelming, but it does not always mean you will feel ill all of the time.
Everyone responds differently to chemotherapy and immunotherapy. Some people do have difficult days, but many find that the side effects are manageable, and they still have good days where they can enjoy time with family, go out, and do the things they love. Your medical team can also adjust treatments and give medication to help with side effects if they become a problem.
It is also worth remembering that treatment plans can change over time. If one treatment stops working or causes too many side effects, your oncologist may have other options. Many people with stage 4 breast cancer live for years while continuing treatment, and they learn a routine that works for them.
Please do not be afraid to tell your doctors exactly how you are feeling, both physically and emotionally. They want to help you have the best quality of life possible, not just treat the cancer. There is a lot of support available, and you do not have to carry this fear on your own. I want to reach out and offer my support. Although I haven't gone through a diagnosis myself, my sister faced a similar situation of breast cancers and found a valuable resource that helped her navigate her journey. Her oncologist recommended the book 'The Steady Path Through Breast Cancer' by Dr. Alex Michael , available on Amazon. It provided her with a deeper understanding of the treatment processes, guidelines and friendly recipes. And now she is free of cancer I thought it might be helpful to share this resource with you.i highly recommend checking it out . Sending you love, support, and prayers during this challenging time. xxx"
You have already taken a brave step by reaching out here. I am sure there are others in this group who are on a similar treatment plan and can share their experiences with you. Take things one day at a time. Right now, you do not know how your body will respond, and there is every chance that it will be better than you are imagining. I am sending you a big hug, and I hope your treatment goes as smoothly as possible.
