Past cancer recurred in the final stage
-----
Good morning y’all 🌸 I wanted to introduce myself, I’ve just recently joined but have been following this group for over a year now since I was initially diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer in August of 2024. I endured 8 rounds of heavy duty chemo, every other week 4 rounds of Doxorubicin and Cytoxin, and then 4 more rounds of Taxol. I responded well at the time, the tumors shrunk down from 5 cm to .5 cm and was basically reduced to mush.
I then underwent a bi-lateral mastectomy in February of 2025, following 6 weeks of radiation for precautionary measures. My doctor started me on Zoladex injections and Anastrazole to suppress my estrogen levels since my cancer is estrogen receptive. I’m ER positive. Also it was planned for me to begin taking the inhibitor drug, Kisqali, for further prevention of the disease. Unfortunately my insurance has continuously denied my oncologist’s requests for this medicine, 6 times now since November of last year. In February of this current year I began experiencing lower back pain. I didn’t put much thought behind it since I’m going thru chemically-induced menopause. I contributed my lower back pain to the weakening of my bones due to the medicine I’m on but, in early April of this year I decided to go to the hospital. I had a CT scan and I was devastated after I was told the breast cancer has returned and spread to my spine. So now I am metastatic and have lesions all over my spine and pelvic bone. More than likely it came back because my insurance has repeatedly denied me of this medicine that is of the utmost necessity and specifically designed to have prevented this exact thing from happening. This cancer is just too aggressive and volatile for me to NOT have been on any chemo meds to stop it from reoccurring. The medicine I should have been on for months now. It hasn’t even been one year since I was cleared and now it has shown its ugly face again. I just feel so defeated. I’m 43 years old and I am literally terrified of losing my life to this disgusting and merciless disease! I’m so scared of leaving my 15 year old daughter 😢 my daughter has been so strong for her mama!!! It’s just the two of us and she is/has been my biggest supporter thru out all of this but, I am very worried for how she is being affected by all of it, presently, and in the future.
I’m looking and hoping to connect with others’ facing the same challenges as me!
