Tanjak Mahkota Alam Bestowed, WHN Chairman Vows to Fight for Lingga Regency

Pulau Medang, July 20, 2025, At precisely 9:30 AM, the Chairman of Wawasan Hukum Nusantara (WHN), Capt. Arqam Bakri, S.E., M.Mar., MBA, and his delegation arrived at the dock of Pulau Medang Village, Katang Bidare District, Lingga Regency. The delegation from WHN’s National Executive Board (DPP) was warmly welcomed by the local village authorities, traditional leaders, school principals from elementary to high school levels, WHN university students, fishermen, and the entire Pulau Medang community.

Upon stepping onto the dock, Capt. Arqam was presented with a garland by a student representative from Pulau Medang. The WHN entourage then walked along the dock, greeting villagers one by one.

At the village gate, a traditional Malay ceremony took place where Arqam Bakri was adorned with the Tanjak Mahkota Alam—a symbolic Malay crown—by local traditional leaders. This was followed by a performance of Malay traditional silat by village leaders and children, symbolizing honor and unity. The ceremony continued with a Berkapur Sirih ritual on the main stage, a sacred Malay cultural rite to formally acknowledge the bestowal of the Tanjak Mahkota Alam.

During his speech, Capt. Arqam emphasized the importance of education for the people of Pulau Medang and surrounding islands in Lingga Regency. He made a strong commitment to ensuring that no child from Lingga—especially in Pulau Medang—drops out of school for any reason. He also instructed the village head to record the number of students and high school graduates in Pulau Medang. Currently, there are about 27 students from Pulau Medang and Pulau Duyung who have received scholarships to study Business Law at the undergraduate level.

> “By wearing the Tanjak Mahkota Alam on my head, I am now an inseparable part of the Malay community. What they feel, I feel. If they are hurt, then I too am hurt,” Arqam declared. “Today, I make a solemn commitment to improving the standard of education in Pulau Medang and Lingga Regency as a whole. The Malay Tanjak is a great honor for me—one that I must uphold to preserve the dignity and pride of the Malay people.”

This event marked a symbolic and emotional moment in the WHN Chairman’s visit, signifying deep respect and dedication to the cultural and social progress of Lingga’s Malay community.
