11 CHRISTIAN MOVIES THAT PREACHED TO ME LOUDER THAN ANY SERMON
INTRODUCTION
It is true that God speaks to us in divers ways and this includes movies. I sat down to watch one Christian movie and ended watching 11 Christian movies later.
I went in looking for entertainment but God met me with convictions, healing and strategy. These weren't just films, there were sermons.
My faith was restored, my fire was rekindled, my peace was settled and I received wisdom.
I’ve broken these 11 movies into 3 parts so you can feel exactly what God showed me through each one.

PART 1: WHEN DOUBT MEETS TRUTH
1. THE CASE FOR CHRIST (2017)
Lee Strobel was an award-winning atheist journalist. His wife became a Christian and it threatened their marriage. So he used his investigative skills to disprove Jesus once and for all.
What he found wrecked him instead. Medical evidence of the crucifixion. Historical accounts of the empty tomb. Eyewitness testimony that held up. Scholars who couldn’t explain away the resurrection.
The biggest punch? If the resurrection is true, then everything is true. Doubt isn’t the opposite of faith. Unexamined doubt is.
I recommend that you watch this movie if you have questions about your faith and if God really exist, share it with a friend too.
2. GOD’S NOT DEAD 1 (2014)
College freshman Josh enters Philosophy 101. Professor Radisson’s first assignment: write “God is dead” to pass. Josh refuses.
What follows is 3 weeks of public debates. Josh risks his grade, his scholarship, his girlfriend, and his reputation. The professor represents every voice that mocks faith as weak and outdated.
The ending hits different. After losing everything, Josh ends up leading thousands to Christ at a concert. You don’t have to win every argument. You just have to not deny Him.
Watch this movie if you’re in school, at work, or online and feel pressure to hide your faith.
3. GOD’S NOT DEAD 2 (2016)
High school teacher Grace answers a student’s question about Jesus. Next thing she knows, she’s in a lawsuit that could end her career.
This film takes faith out of the church and puts it in the courtroom. The question: Is Jesus just a historical teacher, or is He Lord? The prosecution wants to reduce Him to a quote in a textbook. Grace refuses.
It asks us: What are we willing to lose for Jesus? Comfort? Job? Reputation? If we don’t speak up, who will?
Watch this one if you care about standing for truth in hostile places.
4. GOD’S NOT DEAD: A LIGHT IN DARKNESS (2018)
The church burns down. People are hurt. And instead of rallying, the community turns on Pastor Dave. They blame the church. They sue the church.
This is the rawest one. Because grief is messy. Tragedy doesn’t always make people run to God. Sometimes it makes them run from Him. Pastor Dave loses his building, his friends, and almost his faith.
It won’t give you easy answers for suffering. But it will show you Jesus in the ashes. God doesn’t promise no fire. He promises to be with you in it.

5. GOD’S NOT DEAD: WE THE PEOPLE (2021)
A group of homeschooling families are targeted by the government. The state says they’re not qualified to teach their kids. So the church decides to fight back - legally, prayerfully, together.
This isn’t just about education. It’s about discipleship. Who gets to shape the next generation? The world or the home? The film shows believers using wisdom, not just outrage.
It’s a reminder that freedom isn’t passive. It’s protected. And the family is the first church. If we don’t disciple our kids, the world will.

PART 2: FAITH THAT WORKS
6. COURAGEOUS (2011)
4 police officers. 4 dads. 4 broken homes. They get tired of being absent, angry, or passive fathers. So they make “The Resolution” - a covenant before God to lead their families.
This movie will convict you. One dad loses his daughter. Another almost loses his son to gangs. But they keep showing up. They pray. They apologize. They lead.
It’s not perfect. But it’s real. Your kids won’t remember your job title. They’ll remember if you were there.
I recommend this movie for every parents and would be parents.
7. DO YOU BELIEVE? (2015)
12 lives collide on one street. A pastor who lost his passion. A professor who lost his faith. A homeless man. A singer. A shop owner.
The question isn’t “Do you believe God exists?” It’s “Do you believe enough to DO something?” This movie refuses to let faith be comfortable.
The ending forces you to decide. Faith without works is dead. Don’t just believe the gospel. Be it.
If you are struggling with your faith or finding it hard to accept your new found faith, then this for you.
8. WAR ROOM (2015)
Elizabeth’s marriage is falling apart. Her job is stressful. Her daughter is drifting. She’s losing on every front. Then she meets Miss Clara.
Miss Clara has a “war room” - a closet covered in prayer requests and battle plans. She teaches Elizabeth that prayer isn’t begging. It’s warfare.
This film changed my prayer life. I stopped praying vague prayers. The victory is won in the war room before it’s won in the living room.
*Watch this movie if your prayer life is dry or your home needs a breakthrough.
9. THE FORGE (2024)
Isaiah graduates high school with no job, no plan, no direction. He’s drifting. Then a man named Joshua invites him into “the forge” - a discipleship group for young men.
This is what happens after salvation. Someone has to teach you how to walk with God. The movie shows mentorship, accountability, and purpose.
Isaiah goes from aimless to called. You can’t forge steel alone. You need fire and another man.
If you are a young person looking for purpose, and direction, don't hesitate to watch this.
PART 3: WHEN HEAVEN BREAKS IN
10. THE SHACK (2017)
Mack’s daughter Missy is murdered. His grief turns to rage at God. “Where were You?” Then he gets a note: “Meet me at The Shack.”
There he meets God as Father, Son, and Spirit. Not how he imagined. But exactly how he needed. It’s unconventional, but it’s healing.
It won’t answer every theological question. But it will wreck your heart and set you free. God can meet you in your worst pain and not waste it.
Watch it if you’re carrying grief, anger, or unforgiveness.
11. HEAVEN IS FOR REAL (2014)
4-year-old Colton goes in for emergency surgery. He flatlines. When he wakes, he starts telling his parents about heaven.
He describes Jesus with scars in His hands. Angels singing. And a sister his parents never told him about. Details no child could know.
The world tried to explain it away. But you can’t fake a child’s peace. God can use anyone. Even a 4-year-old to preach to adults.
This movie will teach you to train your children to be more closer to God.
