19-Year-Old Killed in Armed Robbery at Family Home in Delft

A quiet Sunday evening in Delft turned into a nightmare when a 19-year-old man was fatally shot during an armed robbery at his family home in the N2 Gateway neighborhood.

 

According to police, the incident occurred around 8:50 PM when the victim's father, a taxi owner, arrived at his home on Drakensberg Street. As he parked his vehicle, two unidentified men followed him onto the property and confronted him with firearms.

 

The suspects reportedly demanded his firearm and other belongings. Moments later, gunfire erupted. The father then discovered that both his wife and teenage son had been shot.

 

The young man died on the scene from a gunshot wound to the head, while his 56-year-old mother was seriously injured and rushed to hospital. The father was left unharmed.

 

The robbers fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. Authorities believe robbery was the motive behind the attack.

 

Police spokesperson Captain FC Van Wyk confirmed the incident and stated that investigations are ongoing. He urged anyone with information to contact Crime Stop at 08600 10111.

 

This tragedy has sent shockwaves through the Delft community, with residents calling for greater safety and police visibility in the area.
