2 IMPORTANT CAUSES OF GBV AGAINST WOMEN IN SOUTH AFRICA THAT ARE OVERLOOKED

2 MAJOR CAUSES OF GBV TOWARDS WOMAN IN South Africa THAT ARE BEING IGNORED

Gender based violence is an act of violence towards someone either male or female. Here will mainly focus on issues that are ignored which causes man to abuse woman.

1.    Molestation of young man

2.    The use of muti towards man in relationships

MOLESTATION

The sexual abuse of young man by woman is a big issue which most people ignore due the fact that men naturally are afraid or shy to talk about sexual matters. They believe they will be laughed or belittled that they are not man enough if they report such events as a result, they grow bitter with natural hate towards women. The abuse causes a very bad damage psychologically and emotionally. When they grow up to adult stage, they are already damaged and because they grow up in societies which requires certain things so they can fit in they follow protocol e.g., when you reach young adult stage one must start dating, I mean that’s normal right? Then because they never really reached out for help, they are still filled with anger for women the abuse for the partner starts. That is because they want revenge, they seek healing for others is a cry for help.

THE USE OF MUTI TOWARDS MEN

Muti are charms there are different kind of charms but in this regard will focus only on love portion which is commonly known as bring back the lost lover.  The use of muti is when someone uses muti towards the other with intentions of achieving certain things or controlling their thoughts. In South Africa such charms are normal and are even advertised on our newspapers and brochures on our streets. There are places where they are sold, and these places are frequently visited by women. It is very rare to find men in those places. Most men are under the spell of love charms as women use them towards, so they never leave them if they want, and women tend to forget as time goes by that they have bewitched their partners who are controlled by muti, and they start cheating on them because the relationship is no longer mutual. When they start cheating on their partners instead of their partners to let go of the relationship, they start abusing women not because they want to but because they are controlled by muti and in most cases violence is involved. When you ask them, I mean those under the spells why are abusing your partner their answer is always the same “I don`t know”.

Not only men are guilty of GBV, but women also contribute not in all cases thou but some.
