A teenager arraigned for stealing cables in Lagos state

 

Mustapha Abdullahi, a teenager who stole IKEDC (Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company) was under indictment at the Ejigbo Magistrate's Court.

 

The defendant allegedly stole a cable worth 75,000 Naira from a transformer thereby putting his entire neighborhood at Ejigbo in darkness.

 

 

The 19 year old teenager residing in the Igando area of Lagos, faces one count charge of stealing.

 

 

Inspector Benedict Aigbokhan, the prosecutor in charge of the case said the felony happened on December 24, 2021 at Oje Olorunfemi Street, Egan Igando.

 

 

The theft of the cable breached section 287 of the criminal law of Lagos State 2015. The section provided three years imprisonment for the offence.

 

 

Abdullahi pleaded not guilty to the charge. The Magistrate, Mr E.O Ogunkanmi granted the defendant 100,000 Naira bail provided

 

two employed guarantors with evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State government are brought in case of policy defaults.

 

The case has been adjourned to February 21 for further hearing.
