Real Madrid produced a Champions League miracle yesterday night at Stadio Olimpico as they beat AS Roma 4-3 after trailing 3-1 with 8 minutes left. Roma started brightly and took the lead in the 20th minute through Marten de Roon. Real Madrid equalized through Kylian Mbappe in the 25th minute. It was Mbappe's 100th Champions League appearance and he became the youngest player in history to reach that milestone at 27 years old. In the second half, Roma shocked Madrid. Dutch forward Donyell Malen scored two quick goals in the 51st and 57th minute to make it 3-1 to Roma. The home fans thought the game was over. But Real Madrid is never dead. Coach Jose Mourinho, facing one of his old clubs, changed tactics and targeted corners. 83rd minute: Arda Guler played a short corner, Endrick headed it, the Roma keeper pushed it out and Carlos Espi scored to make it 3-2. 85th minute: Another corner from Guler, Endrick rose and headed powerfully to equalize 3-3. 90th minute: The third corner in 7 minutes. Antonio Rudiger, former Roma player, volleyed it in at the back post to win it 4-3 for Real Madrid. It was three corner goals in seven minutes. The win keeps Real Madrid in the top 8 of the Champions League table after 2 games. The night was historic as 78 goals were scored across all Champions League games yesterday, breaking the all-time record. Real Madrid will now face Sevilla in La Liga before El Clasico. Final Score: Roma 3-4 Real Madrid Goals: De Roon 20', Malen 51', 57' (Roma) | Mbappe 25', Espi 83', Endrick 85', Rudiger 90' (Real Madrid)
