Senator Elisha Abbo of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who represents Adamawa North senatorial district, backed the call for President Muhammadu Buhari's impeachment on Friday.
POLITICS NIGERIA previously reported that opposition Senators are pressing for President Buhari to be impeached over the country's escalating security challenges, ten months before the conclusion of his second term. In reality, an ultimatum was issued.
Nigerians will go to the polls in February 2023 to elect a new president, and the primary topics will be security and the state of the economy.
In a statement, the White House praised Senate President Ahmed Lawan for rejecting "the ludicrous effort to impeach our President."
However, Abbo, a well-known APC member, told Channels TV that he fully supports the impeachment motion against the President.
According to him, Nigeria's leader has failed in his core responsibilities to protect people's lives and property.
