The costs associated with travel by the President and Vice President in 2023 have been made public.
In case you forgot, President Muhammadu Buhari proposed a 20.51 trillion naira budget for the 2023 fiscal year last week.
According to the most recent budget estimate given to the National Assembly, the Presidential and Vice Presidential offices would spend a total of N11.92bn on domestic and international travel as well as the presidential air fleet.
This sum also includes the N1.58 billion set aside for plane upkeep and the N1.60 billion set aside for the engine overhauls of the Gulfstream GV and CL605 planes.
According to newly released details, the President's Office has been allotted N2.49bn for domestic and international travel, while the Vice President's Office has been allotted N846.61m for the same purpose.
While this is going on, the National Assembly will distribute N100 billion to its members to use on pet projects in their home districts, many of which, according to the Independent Commission Against Corruption and Related Offences, have been plagued by corruption.
