Burna Boy has made history as the first Nigerian artist to present an award at the prestigious Ballon d'Or ceremony.

The Grammy-winning star mounted the global stage in Paris on Monday night to present the Socrates Award to Arsenal and England winger Bukayo Saka.

The moment has left many Nigerians proud as Burna Boy becomes the first Afrobeats artist to ever present an award at the Ballon d'Or.

In a video that has now gone viral, Burna Boy was seen looking dapper in a black suit as he announced Saka as the winner. He also used the opportunity to talk about his football academy in Nigeria.

The Socrates Award is given to players who are involved in humanitarian and social projects. Saka won it for his charity work.

Reacting to the history, many fans on X have praised Burna Boy for putting Nigeria on the map again.

One fan wrote, "Burna Boy is too big, na why dem call am African Giant."

Another wrote, "From Port Harcourt to Ballon d'Or stage, na God."

It will be recalled that Burna Boy himself is a big football fan and owns a football academy in Lagos where he trains young talents.

This is coming days after Burna Boy was nominated for the 2026 Grammy Awards in two categories.

Congratulations to Burna Boy!
