The activities of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) is of course a welcome development. However, the cover up given to the owners by judges and other constitutional backing is a threat to the fight against corruption and credibility of the Nigeria's system at large.
One of the biggest challenges gnawing world system of actualisation of global initiations for the common good of all is corruption and embezzlement of the resources allocated to the projects and programmes. Amful amount of money used to be awarded to various sector of human endeavour in order to address existing problems but the fundraisers and implementors have their own means of squandering it.
Indeed the worst practice of such harmful philosophy is found in Africa. There are of course corruption and embezzlement in the European countries but in some specific activities as they were cautious to apply such a poisonous into sensitive areas of human services.
In Nigeria's contexts security funds, educational funds, health funds, pension funds and any other sensitive sector worth mentioning did not escaped the tragedy of corruption and embezzlement by the authorities. The issue is contradictory in nature, for why an individual with normal sense bent relentlessly in tempering the funds meant for execution of life assurance projects or programmes of his fellow citizens.
One will wonder how such an action penetrate deep in our bureaucracy of government in all ministries, directorates and agencies. It was of recent years around 2018, Saudi Arabian government granted aid to internally displaced persons of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states during Holly Month of Ramadan.
Fortunately, the contents of that very aid consists of dates which were purposely awarded so as to ease their fasting sessions of IDP population. The dates were magically metamorphosed in the smoke screen like the act a wand. It ended up by complains and no actions. The cruelty of the minds of those who mastermind the stealing of IDPs provisions is of highest order.
Such serious crime to my ponder went unchecked and unpunished by the government; henceforth it resulted to the tarnishing of the country's image as well as the credibility of the citizens in executing civic responsibilities. However, the highest danger of the event was the high level of inhumane attitude showcased to the victims of terrorists group.
