Before You Take That Drug; Dangers of drug abuse.
On Tuesday morning, while I was at the pharmacy, a young man in his early 20s dashed into the pharmacy.
His hair was rough and he was putting on ripped denim pants, and a black hoodie.
"Can I get Codeine or any strong cough medicine"? The guy asked the pharmacist in a friendly tone.
When he made that statement, I thought he was coughing severely. But his next line of action shook me to my foundation.
"You can have it", the pharmacist dropped the cough syrup on the counter.
The young man made the payment, and thanked the pharmacist- but he did move away.
I watched him open the cough mixture, tilted his head backward, placed the tip on his lips, and gulped down the mixture.
He consumed the whole content in the bottle, disposed of it, and left.
My mouth was left wide open, and I was trying to process what I witnessed - but the pharmacist was laughing like it was a normal occurrence.
Yes, he confirmed my fears.
Guys like that, come here often to purchase such drugs, not for any medical purpose, but just to feel HIGH.
