Eldoret is a principal town in the rift valley region of Kenya and is also the capital of Uaasin Gishu county. It is also known as Sisibo, it is been ranked as the fifth populated area after Nakuru, Mobasa, Nairobi and Ruiru.
Located south of Cherangani hills, the Eldoret settlement was found by white South African Boers with local elavations varying from 2100 meters from the airport to more than 2700 meters in the nearby areas with the population of about 500,000 inhabitants.
The Boers who founded this town decided that they have enough of British rule in South Africa and trekked north to protest annexation of their Transvaal Republic.
