EXTRATERRESTRIAL LIFE FORMS(ALIENS)
This is a very deep question to answer.
But then I would like to rephrase the question as: "are we alone in this world?"
By high assumptions we are not alone in this world and every other form of nature that does not exist on Earth is referred to as an Alien.
There hasn't been any form of life discovered anywhere else in the planet and so there is no scientifically proven evidence of extraterrestrial life on the planet.
This also does not ascertain the claim that we are alone in this world. Some rovers, Landers and even cameras have been sent to some planets like Mars to explore it's surface for some life forms. To quote Carl Sagan; "The universe is a pretty big place. If it's just us, it seems like an awful waste of space".
Aliens
The alien life is a life assumed to exist outside earth, this life may range from simple prokaryotes to intelligent beings and even sapient beings possibly bringing forth civilization that might be far advanced than humanity.
The search for extraterrestrial life is a big concern for humans because of the feeling that the aliens might have more advanced civilization than the humans and making us prey to them.
The study of extraterrestrial life in all its forms is called ASTROBIOLOGY. It is the scientific study of life in the universe, it studies how life arose and evolved on Earth.
The reason most scientists do not believe in extraterrestrial life is that if they really existed their evolution would have occurred independently in different places in the universe. They would have sent a message or at least made themselves noticed, but none of these have happened. Are we hiding from them or they don't see us as a civilization worth visiting?
There could be a reason for their silence and it is a serious concern. Humans are making advancement towards searching for them, we can't say if it is the right thing to do or not.
Do Aliens Exist? Is a question we can't say for sure so if we are saying yes, what would they look like?. Would it be simple life forms like bacteria and virus, multicellular creatures or even perfect beings, would they be animals or plants or have characteristics of both? Would they have arms and legs and walk straight as we do?
Would they breathe oxygen or some other gases. Nature and forms of aliens have been left to science fiction authors, science fiction readers and Hollywood directors who see aliens as green creatures, with big head and bulgy eyes.
The search for aliens started late in the 1960 when Drake and his colleagues tuned a radio station to two nearby stars(Tau Ceti and Epsilon Eridani). They were alien hunting, hoping to hear signals from intelligent extraterrestrial life.
For as long as humans looked up to the night sky, to a place in the universe we let our minds wander to thoughts of distant world's populated by beings unlike us. The ancient Greeks were the first thinkers to consider formally the possibility of an infinite universe housing an infinite number of civilization.
Well maybe it won't be so bad after all when we find alien lives but we have seen them in movie scenes depicting chaos, panic and hysteria following the detection of alien life. Buildings collapse, fire rages, society collapse, riots etc. If that is how humans would react on detecting aliens then why bother look for it. We believe that they might be so much like us and may have a normal life, we can't say for sure. Also, we might be so scared of being inferior to other forms of life we don't know yet. It so unlikely that we are the ones in search of them when we don't even know what to expect and how to handle them.
There are so many people who are very curious about extraterrestrial life. The Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) is a company or a group that work day and night in search for extraterrestrial life on other planets, there also the Breakthrough listen project.
The Earth is also a very big planet and what we search in space might be living amongst us and yet we do not know, the oceans, the ice plains and other parts of the Earth could have some microbials alien life forms we don't know about.
Do Aliens Exist? This is true to so many people while to some they are just diabolical thinking as it wasn't stated anywhere in the prehistoric books.
Aliens do exist because it would be unfair and very hard to believe that humans are the only form of life in the planet. A lot of research is being carried out to unravel the truth to mankind.
