Faith and Medicine

Its defies scientific logic and sounds mythical if not unreasonable that some measure of faith or the belief of the human mind for the practice of medical science and pharmacology to thrive. As irrational as might seem to an emperecist and pragmatist, truth however remains that most drugs dont just work on some patients who don't belief that the  drugs will work on them and treat thier ailments. The reason - their belief system and the conditioning of thier mind.

A certain ailing from woman from West Africa - Nigeria was admitted into a health care center for check up and she was diagnosed with malaria parasite. The doctor on duty made some drug prescriptions for her to get from the pharmacy but she said that if it was malaria she had, that she she going to be fine taking lemon grass drink after heating in water. She told the doctor that's how she has been treating malaria from childhood. The doctor advised to takes the recommended drugs but she said no. When the doctor insisted, she said outrightly that she does not believe in orthodox medicine. She said it does not work for her system. She told thr doctor she will however accept to take the recommended drugs just to prove it's inefficiency in her system to the doctor. The havard trained doctor was shocked. He although accepted. The woman took the drugs under the doctor's watch and after few days, she was retested and the Malaria parasite was still found in her blood. Her condition still remained. The doctor been curious asked her to take what she normally takes whenever she is down with malaria and she made her drink from lemon grass  and after 2 days of taking it, she was back to her feet - strong, kicking and chirpy. The doctor concluded that faith and medicine are interwovened.
