Wike said this on Thursday during a Town Hall meeting with stakeholders in the Federal Capital Territory. The meeting was held to discuss development projects in Abuja and preparations for the upcoming elections.

According to Wike, Abuja residents voted wrongly in 2023 and they suffered for it because the government was not happy with the result from the capital city. He said this time around, they should vote correctly for President Bola Tinubu so that more development will come to Abuja.

He listed some of the projects his administration has done in the last one year, including road construction in Kuje, Bwari, and Kwali area councils, rehabilitation of the Abuja Light Rail, and renovation of schools and hospitals.

Wike is known for his blunt style of politics and this statement has already started causing debate online. Supporters of the Labour Party, who won Abuja in 2023, said Wike has no right to threaten voters and that Abuja people will vote their conscience again

Meanwhile, APC supporters in the FCT have praised Wike, saying he is the only FCT Minister who has shown serious work in recent years

The 2027 presidential election will hold in January 2027 and INEC says over 1.5 million registered voters are in the FCT alone. Who will Abuja vote for this time?
