Many Nigerians are looking for code to register for Federal Government 50,000 naira grant. If you are one of them, read this to the end to avoid being scammed.
The Federal Government has commenced a new cash relief program called National Emergency Relief and Stabilisation Intervention (NERSI). Under this program, selected vulnerable households will receive N50,000 monthly to cushion high cost of living.
This was announced by the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr Bernard Doro, on October 30, 2026 in Abuja.
*Do You Need Any Code To Register?*
No. The Minister clearly stated that beneficiaries are NOT required to apply, pay any fee, or register through agents.
There is no USSD code for registration. Any website or person telling you to dial a code or pay money to get 50k is fake.
*How Will Beneficiaries Get The Money?*
According to the government, if you are selected:
1. You will receive an SMS from licensed financial providers like OPay, Moniepoint, MoMo PSB, ALAT by Wema, or NairaGram
2. The SMS will ask for your consent to receive the money
3. Once you give consent, the 50,000 will be paid directly into your bank account or mobile wallet
*What To Do While Waiting:*
- Make sure your NIN is linked to your active phone number
- Ensure your bank account name matches your NIN name
- Keep your line active to receive SMS
- Do not pay anyone who claims to help you register
If you are unsure about any SMS you received, or anyone asks you for money, call the official NERSI helpline on 0700-022-2222.
