Monday, August 4, 2025, The Chairwoman of the Jambi Province Family Welfare Empowerment Team (TP-PKK), Hj. Hesnidar Haris, SE (Hesti Haris), emphasized that the Indonesian Midwives Association (IBI) plays a strategic role in public health and welfare services. This statement was delivered during the inauguration of the IBI Jambi Regional Board for the 2023–2028 term at the Governor’s Official Residence Auditorium.
Hesti Haris expressed her deep appreciation for the significant contributions of midwives, especially in providing health education in rural areas. She highlighted IBI's crucial role in preventive efforts such as reducing stunting, early marriage, and drug abuse. She also stressed the value of senior midwives’ experience, despite advancements in technology.
Hesti called on IBI to collaborate in campaigns to prevent early marriage and educate the public on the ideal age for marriage. She stated that TP-PKK is ready to work with Family Planning Field Officers (PLKB) and IBI to promote education on pregnancy spacing.
Chairwoman of IBI Jambi, Midwife Dewi Novista Lilis, shared that IBI has been active since 1951 and now has 8,055 members in Jambi, with 565 private practices and 450 midwives spread across 11 districts/cities. IBI remains committed to supporting the transformation of the health sector and maintaining synergy with the government.
The inauguration was led by Provincial Secretary Dr. H. Sudirman, SH, MH, and attended by several related officials.
