How I Scored 78 in JAMB Physics After Failing Mock – My Reading Formula

If you see my Physics mock result last year, you go laugh. 32/100. My mama almost cried.

Physics was my worst subject. I hated calculation, I hated formulas. But JAMB was coming and I needed it for Engineering.

So I changed my reading style completely. In 3 months, I moved from 32 to 78 in JAMB Physics. Here is how I did it.

1. I Stopped Reading Like A Novelist – I Started Reading Like A Teacher

Before, I would open textbook and read from page 1 to 10 like story. I forgot everything.

My new method: Read one topic, close book, and try to TEACH it out loud. I would stand in my room and say "Okay, what is Newton's first law?" If I can't explain it in simple English, I didn't understand it.

I did this for every topic. Mechanics, Waves, Light. Teaching makes it stick.

2. The 2-Hour Formula Block – 6am to 8am Daily

Physics is not for night when you are tired. I gave it my best brain time.

Every morning 6am to 8am, only Physics. No phone, no music. Just me, calculator, and past questions.

I solved at least 30 JAMB past questions every morning. Not just reading answers — solving with my hand. In 60 days, I solved over 1500 questions. JAMB started repeating pattern.

3. I Created My Own Small Formula Book

Big textbook dey scare me. So I bought small pocket notebook. I wrote only 40 formulas that JAMB repeats.

Like:

- V = u + at

- F = ma

- P = IV

- Speed = distance/time

Every night before sleep, I open that small book for 15 minutes only. No new topic, just revision. That small book entered my head more than big textbook.

4. The Good Reading Rule That Saved Me

I used to read 6 hours straight and forget. Now I use 50-10 rule.

50 minutes reading, 10 minutes walking, drinking water, no phone. After 3 rounds, I stop. I go play small, then come back.

My brain no longer tired. I remembered more with 3 hours of this method than 8 hours of forcing myself.

My JAMB Day

When I saw Physics questions, I smiled. Out of 40 questions, I had seen 28 similar ones in my morning practice. The calculation was not new. I finished 20 minutes early and checked again.

Result: Physics 78, Chemistry 68, Maths 71, English 65. Total 282.
