HOW'S YOUR INFLUENCE GAME?
Over and again, my friend who lived with me at a time would walk up to me and remind me of statements I had made or actions I had taken and how they influenced him.
When I said or did those things, I didn't deliberately plan for it to influence his life, but it did. I'd also say the same about him. There are things he has said or done that have unconsciously influenced my life.
Why do I share this?
Man is a product of influence. Whether you know it or not, you are influencing someone and being influenced.
In fact, did you know that in your lifetime you will influence no less than 10,000 people?
See what Tim Elmore said: “Sociologists tell us the most introverted of people will influence 10,000 others in an average lifetime.”
Influence is unavoidable. When you put up that WhatsApp status or share that Facebook post or wear an attire, etc. you are influencing someone.
When you read that Facebook post or WhatsApp status or observed that celebrity's dress, the goal was to influence you.
How about becoming deliberate about your influence?
To increase the effectiveness of your influence, think personal growth. The more you grow, the more influence you can have in people's lives.
For example, my growth as a writer has influenced the writing of some of my friends. There are friends who I know how they presented some words, but after observing me use them differently, it influenced how they used them afterward.
So what areas do you want to influence more people? Are you growing in those areas?
Remember, to increase the effectiveness of your influence, think personal growth. The more you grow, the more influence you can have in people's lives.
Commit to personal growth every day and see how your influence increases.
I leave you to ponder on this statement by Charlie Tremendous Jones, "You will be the same person in five years as you are today except for the people you meet and the books you read."
