The Ballon d'Or race for 2026 is getting hot and Lamine Yamal has taken the lead again.
Barcelona beat Galatasaray 4-1 in Istanbul yesterday night in the Champions League and Lamine Yamal was the star of the show. The 19-year-old provided two beautiful assists for Fermin Lopez and Anthony Gordon.
Yamal now has 10 goal contributions in just 10 games this season. He has 5 goals and 5 assists. He is the youngest player to ever lead the Ballon d'Or ranking at just 19 years.
His main rival Harry Kane scored twice for Bayern Munich but his team could only draw 3-3 with Viking Stavanger in Norway. The draw made Kane drop to second place.
Here is the latest Ballon d'Or power ranking for 2026:
1. Lamine Yamal (Barcelona) - 10 goal contributions, 2 assists last night
2. Harry Kane (Bayern Munich) - 14 goals, 2 goals last night but team drew
3. Kylian Mbappe (Real Madrid) - Scored on his 100th Champions League appearance yesterday in 4-3 win over Roma
4. Victor Osimhen (Galatasaray) - 1 goal disallowed vs Barcelona
Many fans believe Yamal will win his second Ballon d'Or after winning it in 2024 at just 17 years old. If he wins again in Paris in October 2026, he will be the youngest two-time winner in history.
Barcelona coach said after the game: "Yamal is a generational talent. What he did in Istanbul at 19 is unbelievable."
The Ballon d'Or ceremony will hold in Paris later this month. Who do you think will win? Yamal or Kane? Drop your comment.
