Leadership Reshuffle: Novasri Koto Officially Appointed as New Chairman of DPD IFAPSI Bengkalis
DURI, July 27, 2025 — A major shift has taken place within the Regional Leadership Council (DPD) of the Ikatan Family Padang dan Sekitarnya (IFAPSI) Bengkalis. Following an official decree from the Riau Provincial IFAPSI Board (DPW IFAPSI) — Decree No. 01/SKPn-DPW IFAPSI/V/2025 — Irwan Munir has been formally relieved of his position as chairman, making way for new leadership.
The decision was delivered during a formal assembly at the IFAPSI Bengkalis Building on Jalan Desa Harapan, Air Jamban Subdistrict, Mandau District. Attendees included advisory board members, traditional elders (Ninik Mamak), Bundo Kanduang, and active candidates for the new leadership lineup. The consensus was unanimous: it was time for a fresh start.
New Leadership, New Spirit
Stepping into the role with optimism and purpose, Novasri Koto was officially appointed as the new Chairman of DPD IFAPSI Bengkalis. His appointment follows growing concerns over internal divisions during the previous leadership term, which many say contradicted the organization’s core values: “Mangumpua yang Taserak, Mambangkik Batang Tarandam” (Uniting the scattered, reviving the fallen).
“Initially, it was just a small misunderstanding,” Novasri told the media. “But it wasn’t handled with urgency, and things escalated. That’s when we reported the matter to the provincial board.”
Restoring Unity and Purpose
In response, DPW IFAPSI Riau acted decisively, deactivating not only the former chairman but also several board members, and initiating a complete reorganization of the Bengkalis chapter. The move was aimed at restoring stability and avoiding long-term fragmentation.
Since assuming leadership, Novasri Koto has successfully reconnected over 125 members who had previously walked away due to organizational discord. His ability to consolidate and reenergize the community signals a promising revival for IFAPSI Bengkalis.
Interestingly, the former chairman Irwan Munir and several of his close allies were notably absent from the assembly. Nevertheless, the meeting was spirited yet harmonious, reflecting the organization’s commitment to unity and kinship (raro dunsanak).
