What is The True Meaning of Love

What is Love?

Is it a feeling or an emotion, peharps that tingling feeling we get when we like like 😉 someone or maybe it's just butterflies in the belly or maybe that strong desire or passion we have towards someone or even a love hate relationship. I guess that's one side of it, trust me there's more to love than all that.

But How and Why?

You see love is not just feelings or emotions although like I said earlier it's part of it, but then what about the part where we get to make commitments and sacrifices, because the are both part of love too. There are actually four things that characterise love, but thats not neccessarily love you know. These are;

1. Feelings or Emotions

Yes you must have feelings for that special someone maybe the tingling feelings or the butterflies in your tummy yep. But this is the part where your vulnerability plays out, where you develop a soft spot for that special someone.

2. Commitment

Trust me you've got to be commited if love is concerned and I don't just mean the everyday phone calls or text messages, nope it goes beyond that. I mean faithfulness, yes. Even if there are no reason to, but he is so annoying or she is so lousy yeah maybe true, but if it's love then you've got to stick with each other regardless.

3. Pleasure 

I know what most of you are thinking right now, and yes why not. But what I really mean is that feeling of satisfaction. Are you satisfied with your partner or it's just a time pass for you? Cause there are a lot of cute guys and hot chicks out there hitting that DM right. But then if it's not she or he then no am not intreseted, now that doesn't make you less of a man or woman you are only contented with that one person.

4. Sacrifice

Now this is not really easy for some people, but that's why it's call sacrifice you know. Just like a mother's love, so she gives up her favourite TV show just to make you lunch or dinner or that money she's been saving for a while now to get herself that cool clothes she saw at the mall just so you can go to school and have a future.

You see if it doesn't cost you anything then is not sacrifice probably your kindness playing out. It may not be money of course you can get that back, but what about your time, your ego, that bad habit you've been holding on to for a while now but that's the way I am it's my zodiac sign ok no problem but if it's love you've got to give it up, yes it's not easy, it's hard, it's painful but it's love.

But then in my definition "Love" not only means to respect and place value on that special someone but it's a choice. Yes it's a choice. But how's that possible someone may say.

You see love doesn't overlook our flaws or imperfection it sees it all, but then your are ready to risk it with that person. So she's a bit saucy or he has a temper or she don't know how to prepare my favourite dish or he always teases me around, ok.

But it's a choice you made regardless of how tough things get. So when you say "I Love You" what you really mean is "I Choose You" not because you are perfect or the prettiest or cutiest or maybe the richest, but it's a decision you've made to be with that special someone and you keek making that decision everyday regardless of your emotions or feelings.
