Tuesday, August 5, 2025, Merangin Regency captivated the audience during the 45th Anniversary of the Jambi Regional National Craft Council (Dekranas), held under the theme “Empowered Artisans, Global Reach” at Ev Garden, Jambi City.
During the fashion show, Chairwoman of Dekranasda Merangin, Hj. Lavita Syukur, stole the spotlight with her stunning appearance in an elegant Batik Burung Kwau ensemble, perfectly complemented by accessories crafted by local artisans. Her presence received high praise from hundreds of guests in attendance.
Also turning heads were Vice Chairwoman Hj. Emi Minarsih Khafidh and the wives of local department heads, who graced the runway in traditional Merangin batik attire, showcasing the region's rich textile heritage.
Merangin’s exhibition booth attracted a large crowd, presenting a variety of locally made products such as signature batik, woven handbags, and Burung Kwau-themed accessories including brooches, hijabs, bracelets, and necklaces.
Representing Governor Al Haris, Jambi Provincial Secretary Dr. H. Sudirman emphasized the importance of the craft industry as a pillar of inclusive economic growth and local cultural identity with global competitiveness.
Meanwhile, Hj. Hesti Haris, Chairwoman of Dekranasda Jambi Province, encouraged all regions to continue nurturing the craft sector, especially in batik, songket weaving, and traditional crafts.
