I was given the task of designing a flyer for a church program scheduled for December 14th–17th. To give enough time for creativity and excellence, I started the project early — around November. I wanted it to come out beautifully, professionally, and spiritually appealing. I didn’t want just an ordinary design — I wanted something that would speak to people and draw attention to God’s work.
But from the beginning, it was tough. I struggled with different layouts, trying to find the right balance of colours, fonts, and images. I kept editing and re-editing. Sometimes I’d feel satisfied, only to look at it again and feel it wasn’t right. It was as if something was missing.
That’s when I realized something: designing isn't just about creativity — it’s about spiritual alignment.
I paused and said to myself:
"This thing, you can't do it by head knowledge alone. You need the help of the Holy Spirit."
So I started praying before designing. I began asking God for inspiration — for fresh ideas beyond my experience or skill. And gradually, things started coming together.
But then, something happened that almost broke me.
One day, just as I was finalizing the design — my phone wiped itself. No warning. No mistake on my part. Just like that, everything disappeared. All the files, all the drafts, all the progress — gone. I was devastated. After all that effort, the stress, the prayers, the thinking — everything was lost in one moment.
Honestly, I wanted to cry. In fact, I did. It was one of those moments where you ask God, “Why?”
But I didn’t give up. I said to God:
“Lord, I know You allowed this for a reason. Please help me. I’m starting again, but this time I need You more than ever.”
And guess what?
The second time I worked on the design — it came out even better than the first! Ideas were flowing faster. The layout was cleaner. Everything just aligned smoothly. It was no longer a struggle — it was grace at work.
That’s when I understood the real moral of this story:
As designers, we need more than tools — we need the Holy Spirit.
It’s not just about fonts and colours; it’s about divine direction.
If you design without God, you’ll either burn out or miss the purpose.
But with the Holy Spirit, your designs won’t just look good — they’ll carry power.
So to every creative reading this — whether you're a designer, video editor, or content creator:
Never depend on your skill alone. Depend on God. Pray before you design. Invite the Holy Spirit to be your Creative Partner. He sees what you cannot see.
Because truly, it’s not by power, not by might, but by His Spirit.
Now, I no longer just “create” — I co-create with God.
