MY HUSBAND INVITED ME TO HIS WEDDING… BUT I WAS ALREADY HIS WIFE
CHAPTER ONE: THE INVITATION
The day I discovered my husband was getting married to another woman, I was sitting alone in a hospital waiting room.
My phone vibrated.
It was a message from an unknown number.
"Hello, beautiful. You're invited to the wedding of Mr. Daniel Williams and Miss Sophia Anderson. Kindly join us this Saturday as they begin their forever together."
I almost smiled.
Daniel Williams was my husband's full name.
For a moment, I thought it was a cruel joke.
Then I opened the attached invitation.
There he was.
My husband.
Wearing an expensive black suit, standing beside a beautiful woman in a white wedding dress.
The wedding date was Saturday.
Three days away.
My hands began to shake.
Daniel and I had been married for two years. We had no children, but I had stood beside him when his business was failing, when he had no money, and when everyone else had abandoned him.
I had used my savings to help him open his first office.
I had believed every promise he made.
"You're the only woman I'll ever love, Grace," he used to tell me.
Now, apparently, I was only one of them.
I called him immediately.
He didn't answer.
I called again.
Nothing.
Then I sent him a message.
"Daniel, we need to talk."
His reply arrived five minutes later.
"I'm busy. I'll call you tonight."
I stared at the screen.
Busy?
My husband was preparing to marry another woman, and he was too busy to speak to me?
I wanted to cry, but something inside me refused to break.
Instead, I opened the wedding invitation again.
The ceremony would take place at the Grand Royal Hotel, the most expensive hotel in the city.
Hundreds of guests were expected.
Business executives. Influential families. Important people.
Daniel wanted the whole world to witness his new marriage.
Fine.
The whole world would witness something else, too.
That evening, Daniel finally came home.
He walked into our bedroom, loosened his tie, and kissed my forehead as if nothing had happened.
"How was your day, darling?" he asked.
I looked directly into his eyes.
"Good. I received an interesting invitation today."
His expression changed.
Only for a second.
But I noticed.
"What invitation?"
I handed him my phone.
He stared at the screen.
Then he laughed.
It was the most uncomfortable laugh I had ever heard.
"Oh, that. Grace, I can explain."
I folded my arms.
"I'm listening."
He sat beside me and took my hand.
"Sophia is the daughter of an important business partner. This wedding is just a formality. It will help my company secure a major investment."
I pulled my hand away.
"So you're going to marry her for money?"
"It's complicated."
"No, Daniel. It's actually very simple. You're already married to me."
He stood up angrily.
"Don't make this difficult! You have no idea how much is at stake."
I watched him walk out of the room.
For the first time in two years, I understood something.
Daniel wasn't afraid of losing me.
He was afraid of losing the life I had helped him build.
But he had forgotten one important detail.
I knew something about his business that even Sophia's wealthy family didn't know.
Something that could bring his entire empire crashing down.
And on Saturday, I intended to reveal it.
The next morning, I received another message.
This time, it was from Sophia herself.
"Grace, I know you're Daniel's wife. Please meet me before the wedding. There's something you need to know about the man you're married to."
Below the message was a photograph.
I zoomed in.
My heart stopped.
Sophia was standing beside a man I had buried three years ago.
My father.
And beneath the photograph were six words:
"Your father never died, Grace."
I dropped my phone.
Because if my father was alive, then everything I had believed about my family was a lie.
And Daniel had known the truth all along.
