My name is Chidi, I live in Lagos with my wife. Last year December, my younger brother traveled to Canada for his masters. Before he traveled, he begged me, please help me take care of my wife Amaka, she is pregnant for 3 months, just allow her stay with you people till I settle down.
I said no problem, family na family. My wife Ada also agreed.
First week, Amaka was very respectful. She dey help my wife for kitchen, dey wash plate, everything dey go well.
But for second week, I start to notice something strange.
Any time for night around 1am, I dey hear footsteps for parlour. One night I wake up to drink water, I see Amaka for kitchen, she dey pack all the meat for freezer inside nylon bag.
I was shocked. I ask her, Amaka wetin you dey do? She start to cry. She say Chidi abeg no vex, na hunger dey wire me, your brother never send money since 2 months, I never chop better food.
My heart cut. I never know say my brother never send her money. I tell her say no worry, from today you go dey chop for this house well.
I tell my wife the next morning. My wife was angry at first, but later we understand. We start to include her for everything.
Third month, Amaka born pikin for our house. Na my wife follow her go hospital. We spend almost 80k for hospital bill, my brother never still send money.
When my brother finally call after 4 months, he start to cry for phone. He say Canada no easy, work no dey, na why he no send money.
Now Amaka don go back to her own house, but my wife and me still dey send her small money every month. Family na family, sometimes you go need to help even when e no convenient.
