Following the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate's victory in the gubernatorial election held on Saturday in Osun State, President Muhammadu Buhari congratulated Senator Ademola Adeleke and said that the people had spoken through the ballot.
The President warned that the will of the people must be honored in a statement released on Sunday by Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President (Media and Publicity).
He cited the exercise's effectiveness as evidence of the maturity and dedication of all participants.
The statement claims that when the election was completed, the President conveyed his conviction that the people of Osun had expressed their will through voting, and that in a democracy, the will of the people must always be recognized.
The successful conduct of the election, according to President Buhari, is yet another indication of the maturity and dedication of all stakeholders, including the electoral body, security agencies, political parties, the media, civil society, and the electorate, to further bolster the credibility of the nation's electoral system.
The President gave the people hope by assuring them that this administration is still committed to holding genuine elections.
I congratulate Senator Ademola Adeleke, a People's Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, on winning the governor of Osun. Through the ballot, the people of Osun have voiced their opinions.
