Vietnamese 23-year-old social media influencer with over 11 million followers announces leukemia diagnosis, tearfully recounts her abstinence from smoking and drinking, but two habits that have taken a toll on her health.

Dan Thy (real name Pham Tuong Lan Thy), a super-popular Gen Z influencer in Vietnam, recently dropped a bombshell on her fans by releasing a short video announcing her diagnosis of leukemia. The 23-year-old, who boasts over 11 million followers on TikTok, previously rose to fame with her glamorous makeup and transformation videos. Now, however, she appears gaunt and choked up several times on camera, revealing her extreme lifestyle of the past three years—"reversed day and night, drinking five cups of milk tea a day"—raising serious concerns about the health of young people.

For three years, she has barely drunk any plain water, consuming sugary drinks until sunrise.

Dan Thy recently uploaded a 3-minute video. In the video, she appears gaunt but tries to remain calm. She frankly admitted that in the past few years, due to managing her social media platform and rushing to produce short video content, her lifestyle had become completely unbalanced. She often worked until 6 or 7 in the morning before going to sleep, and her sleep schedule had become completely reversed.

Even more shocking are her eating habits. Dan Thy revealed that for the past three years, she "almost completely avoided drinking plain water," replacing water with 4 to 5 cups of sugary drinks such as milk tea and matcha lattes every day. She stated that she doesn't smoke or drink alcohol, and had never experienced any obvious health problems in the past, always thinking that she was young and could "handle it." She never expected that illness would suddenly knock on her door, and only then did she realize the price of her long-term over-exploitation of her health.

Filming a video documenting her appearance shocked fans who flooded in to offer support.

Dan Thy, who has hundreds of millions of likes among Vietnam's younger generation, has always been known for her frankness and has previously openly shared her experience of having plastic surgery at the age of 16. Faced with the sudden devastating news of leukemia, she frankly stated that she would face a long and arduous treatment, knowing that chemotherapy would cause hair loss and changes in appearance. Therefore, she wanted to document her current state through the camera.

She choked up, emphasizing that making the video about her illness was not to gain sympathy, but because she would be unable to regularly update her social media accounts and needed to inform her fans. She also hoped to use her painful experience as a "living example" to warn young people who, relying on their youth, ignore their body's warning signs and lead irregular lifestyles.

The news shocked Vietnamese netizens, with a large number of fans flooding her account with messages of support, wishing her a speedy recovery. At the same time, this case also triggered reflection among many "night owls" and "bubble tea lovers," who expressed a need to re-examine their daily routines and eating habits.
