The community of Maai Mahiu is in deep mourning after three young people lost their lives in a shingle day on Monday, June 16, 2025.
The day began tragically when Milly, a young mother, and her friend Davy, who was riding a motorcycle, died in a terrible accident.
Early that morning, Milly and Davy were traveling together on a motorcycle when they collided with a lorry. The crash was so severe that both of them died instantly at the scene.
As the community started to grieve for Milly and Davy, they were hit with more bad news: Collins, a recent graduate, had also passed away later that day.
Collins’ death shocked everyone, adding to the heartache felt by families and friends in Maai Mahiu.
Many who knew Collins remembered him as a caring brother and a talented teammate.
The exact cause of his death has not yet been revealed, but it has left many residents in disbelief and sorrow.
Community members took to social media to express their grief and share touching messages.
One local, Wambui Wa Monica, called for prayers, noting that Maai Mahiu has seen many accidents in recent months.
Another friend, Lione, reflected on the sudden loss, saying, “I just saw you yesterday, and now you are gone. Why now?”
The outpouring of sadness has led many in the community to seek divine help, feeling overwhelmed by the loss of so many young lives. Mary Msoo shared her feelings, saying losing three friends in one day was incredibly hard, and she pleaded for the safety of future generations.
