The Eight Universal Concepts Of Love

Interestingly, did we know that the love we have for people is displayed by the way we show it to them.

That being said; therefore, Love can fundamentally be defined as a "strong" feeling of "deep"affection for someone. The feeling in this concept varies which will now lead to the kinds of Love.

Universally, there are eight (8) kinds of Love and nothing but eight.

*EROS - This kind of love expresses the feeling of sexual passion and desire. Eros is only associated with sex romance and physical love.

* PHILIA - This type of love is devoid of sexual feelings as is experienced in a platonic friendship (absence of romance).

* STORGE - This kind of love expresses a strong bond of familiarity between persons. Storge is an example of love among family members.

* PRAGMA - This is a kind of love that has an endurance effect. It doesn't require a lot of efforts because the both parties put equal efforts to make the other happy. An example is exhibited in old couples who have been in a relationship since teenage years.

* LODUS - A better way to explain this kind love is the word - "infatuation". In order words, it is love expressed just on the physical outlook of someone and this type of love usually don't last.

* MANIA - This type of love is obsessive in nature. This love has a very strong feeling that could lead to madness, anger, jealousy and even homicide. In Mania, people say or do crazy things to keep the love. If not kept under control, Mania could lead to destructive tendencies.

* PHILAUCIA - In order words, this type of love is expressed to oneself. Persons exhibiting this love admires their personal qualities (intelligence, beauty, height, physique, talent, etc) above other persons. It's a kind of self love.

*AGAPE - This is the last on this article, Agape is unconditional in nature. It is a selfless, altruistic and disposable love expressed towards an individual. Some people describe Agape as a spiritual love; others say that it is the "true love".

Having dissected into these kinds of love, I implore us to make the rightful decision pertaining to the type of love we show or the ones shown to us.
