Labuhanbatu Utara, August 3, 2025 — Officers from Kualuh Hulu Police Sector (Polsek Kualuh Hulu) of the Labuhanbatu Police Department responded swiftly to the discovery of a male body struck by a CPO tank train (KLB No. V1-10416) en route from Rantau Prapat to Asahan. The tragic incident occurred around 04:58 AM on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at KM 54+600 on the railway track within the jurisdiction of Kualuh Hulu Police.
According to IPTU Arwin, S.H., acting public relations officer representing Police Chief AKBP Choky Sentosa Meliala, S.I.K., S.H., M.H., the victim was identified as Junaidi alias Hamzah, a 52-year-old Muslim male entrepreneur. He was officially registered as a resident of Dusun I, Bandar Lama Village, Kualuh Selatan District, North Labuhanbatu Regency, and resided in Gunting Saga Subdistrict.
The initial report came from Ahmad Syahputra, a road and track officer at PT KAI, who received information via an internal WhatsApp group that someone had allegedly thrown themselves onto the tracks. Upon checking the site, human body parts were found strewn along the track. It is estimated that the victim was dragged approximately 75 meters from the initial point of impact.
Bosari, the train engineer, later confirmed via phone that he had seen someone lying across the tracks as the train approached KM 54+600. Despite repeated long horn signals, the individual did not move, resulting in the fatal collision. He immediately reported the incident through the company’s internal WhatsApp group.
The crime scene investigation conducted by Kualuh Hulu Police revealed human remains along the railway line. Items found at the scene included a black shirt, black jeans, a pair of black flip-flops, and a red towel, all helping confirm the identity of the deceased.
Authorities have secured all evidence and are coordinating with the victim’s family and relevant agencies for further action. The Labuhanbatu Police expressed their condolences to the victim’s family and issued a public reminder to stay vigilant and avoid risky behavior near railway lines.(Herman)
