The United States has approved a massive $2.1 billion sale of advanced Patriot PAC-3 missiles to Ukraine, in a major boost to Kyiv's air defense capabilities as the war with Russia continues.
According to the US State Department, the sale will be fully funded by NATO allies Canada, Germany, and Norway, and includes hundreds of PAC-3 Missile Segment Enhancement interceptors, which are among the most advanced air defense weapons in the world.
The announcement comes at a critical time for Ukraine, which has been facing relentless Russian drone and missile attacks on its energy infrastructure and civilian areas.
Meanwhile, on Wall Street, the Nasdaq composite has suffered its worst month in over a year, plunging 7.8% in October 2026. Analysts attribute the crash to growing investor fears that massive spending on Artificial Intelligence by tech giants may not yield immediate profits, leading to a sell-off in major tech stocks.
The dual developments highlight a tense global picture, with escalating military support for Ukraine on one hand and economic uncertainty in the US market on the other.
